The ShellBox

Submitted by: Munich University of Applied Sciences
The ShellBox

The submission provides an attractively designed packaging solution that brings three functions in one: product packaging, presentation dish and waste container.

The detailed, useful and at the same time highly functional construction made of cardboard is a good alternative to the conventional way of packaging pistachios in plastic bags, as it also acts as a waste container for the shells. Its resealability makes it suitable for everyday use and it is an actively environmentally-friendly solution made from fibre-based material, in contrast to the plastic packaging which prevails on the market. At the same time, the packaging does not miss a trick when it comes to convenience: it can be composted with no need to separate the contents from the waste.
